The Italian Society for Optics and Photonics (SIOF, Società Italiana di Ottica e Fotonica) was founded in 1991 with the goal of promoting the research activities in the field of optics and photonics and coordinate them all over the national territory by favoring the spread of knowledge and the organization of scientific events, schools, conferences, and workshops, with a special emphasis on the formation of young scientists.
The fifth edition of the “National School of Optical Biosensors and Biophotonics”, BiO&B, will take place in the charming city of Lecce (Italy) on 3-7 June 2024.
BiO&B is a multidisciplinary event organized by SIOF to promote the education and collaboration of young researchers in the field of optical biosensing and biophotonics.

The "Photoluminescence in Rare Earth: Photonic Materials and Devices" Conference, PRE’24, will be held in Trento on 13 - 15 May 2024.
It is the tenth event in the series of International Workshops covering a wide range of research topics concerning the properties and applications of rare-earth ions in optoelectronics and photonics.
PRE’24 aims at providing to material scientists, chemists and physicists the opportunity of debating about the state of the art and the perspectives of the photonic materials based on rare earth ions.
The Italian Society for Optics and Photonics (SIOF), in the spirit of promoting the study and development in optics and photonics, issues a call for one award of € 1000,00 for the best Ph.D. thesis. The prize will be delivered as a contribution to the attendance expenses for a conference, school, or any other similar activity, at the request of the winner.
The price is dedicated to young members who carried their activity by an Italian or Research Center and whose Ph.D. thesis has optics and photonics as the main subject.
