The Italian Society for Optics and Photonics (SIOF, Società Italiana di Ottica e Fotonica) was founded in 1991 with the goal of promoting the research activities in the field of optics and photonics and coordinate them all over the national territory by favoring the spread of knowledge and the organization of scientific events, schools, conferences, and workshops, with a special emphasis on the formation of young scientists.
The Italian Society for Optics and Photonics (SIOF), in the spirit of promoting the study and development in optics and photonics, issues a call for two prizes of € 500,00 (euros fivehundred,00) for undergraduate (master) theses. The prizes will be delivered as a contribution to the attendance expenses for a conference, school, or any other similar activity, at the request of the winners.

The conference will also honour the legacy of ECOF 8 (2001) and the colleagues who helped shape this community. The programme encourages dialogue, idea exchange, and new partnerships, with special attention to the participation of young scholars.
The Abstract Submission Deadline for the thirteenth edition of the Workshop on Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (WSE), to be held in Genoa, Italy, from February 9 to 12, 2026, has been officially extended until Saturday November 22nd 2025. Following that date, only poster presentations can be accepted.
